The Washington Post says that Dubya is going to "break" with his generals and order them to do what they insist is a bad idea, namely the "troop surge" he's got such a hard-on for.

Funny, I thought the Post was a Democrat paper? From everything I've seen, Dubya has refused to listen to any of his military advisors, starting right back with the number of troops committed back in 2003. Since they're denying his history of military incompetence (what else can one expect from as craven a draft evader as he?) obviously they're swaying towards the Republicans.

Question for the night...Is is possible for me to write about the draftdodger-crybaby in chief without dropping the f-bomb?

No, probably not.

Problem is who wants the surge - KSA. Supposely the whole reason for the VP having to drop everything on Thanksgiving to go get a dressing down from the Saudi King was a warning from the House of Saud that any reduction in US troop levels would result in KSA openly funding the Sunni insurgency, (Sunni and Shia HATE each other, and Shia Iran is challenging KSA over influence of the world's Muslim population.

End result, it doesn't matter what the US people want, as long as the House of Saud pulls the strings

Makes me wonder where those troops are coming from...

I guess Bush still isn't aware that the war in Iraq is not like the Battle of Helm's Deep, and Gandalf won't arrive at the bleakest hour with an army to save the day.

Bush can't be aware of that. Bush does not read.

But he can watch movies!

Which may explain his suggestion to replace General Abizaid with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

You know who else didn't listen to his generals after invading other countries?

Image, if you will, Herr Bush with a mustache.

At least he was a combat veteran, which still puts him on a higher level.

But let's not invoke Godwin's Law upon ourselves.

A wounded combat veteran who also had a father in government service. At least Mr. Mustache was liked by his people...at first.

Both were short. Both didn't listen to their generals. Both invaded too many fronts. Overstretched the military. Both violated civil liberties. Both had secret prison camps. And I hear one had a penil erectile problems....but I forget if it's the Mustached one or the Goober one. :)

It's a done deal.

Since Bush's policy is "Leave it to the next President so that I can say that I didn't 'lose Iraq' for America," I hope the next person in the White House knows what he/she is doing. That's the only way, at this point, that we'll ever get out of Iraq.

This is what the OC Register is saying, that this is to draw things out so his successor can deal with it.

I do foresee a bloody conflict...in the House and Senate. They are not going to give this up easily and even Republicans are saying "No."
