Okay, it's taken 25 minutes of my allotted 30 at the MWR to load LJ. Great....

However on Friday I rode the camel at the bazaar we have here once a week. I didn't get pictures; I will next week since I didn't have my camera. It was a two-hump Bactrian with a knowing smile. I love camels and I'd never been so close to ones before.

On the way back to work I passed the shop where they repair the IED robots. One of the operators was having fun and had it roll over to say hi. Since I've got an Aspie-esque obsession with robots, that just about made my week. Later on I was told it was waving around a water bottle.

1LT H has ended his tour and gone back to the States. His wife is 9 months pregnant, so while we're very sad to see him go, it's for the best. Gotta love those USAF 6-month deployments.

I still need to see the gift [profile] vanirpriestess got for me.

I bought Leon D. Wild's rune workbook for $5 off Amazon and so far think highly of it. I started the basic exercises last night and hope that meditating on a rune a night will help me cope out here. I also had to make an appointment with the chaplain. He was helpful, which I wasn't sure he would be. Interestingly, while he's a Methodist chaplain, he still carries a rosary and asked me if I had one. He called them "ranger beads" and recommended them to everyone. The holy Mother of God is sneaky and I love that about her.

Disjointed but I've got a minute left. I can read comments via Gmail though I need to be at the MWR to respond.

Have you read the book Five for Sorrow, Ten for Joy about the Rosary? It's written by J. Neville Ward, a Methodist minister. It's weird but good. Certainly doesn't play into some of the saccharine BS you get in some books about the rosary.

How much will you love camels when one spits at you?

I heard about a guy who really likes camels. You see, he is a cat lover and camels are the ultimate "I couldn't care less about you" critters.

I always thought it would be neat to ride a camel. I've been on horses before and I wondered how different the gait would feel. I wanted to ride an elephant too at some point.

Yeah...Elephants are fascinating. Although sometimes I hear stories about them and it makes me feel guilty that some are in crappy zoos.

I've heard some Methodists say the Rosary. Not sure how common it is, though.
