For some reason, my inbox vomited up a bunch of old "Reply to your posts" messages and I responded to one from [profile] sahari before I realized it.

I went to the library and got a huge stack of books. After we get back to the gym, it's time to plunge into them with notecards in hand. I also need to go back to keep photocopying articles, of which I have a huge stack. I need sources for the reasons for the Spanish going to Mexico. I know, I know, it is simple, but I have to provide footnotes to these maybe two paragraphs.

I also found that the Victor Mair book on the Mummies of Urumchi was back in. I'm liking this book MUCH better than the other one, because while the textiles the mummies are wearing provide interesting clues to their ethnic origin, I really am not all that interested in speculations on the kinds of looms they used. This one is about taking the DNA samples and possible references to these people from the ancient world, and I'm starting to now get interested in Chinese history. I am aware it provides fuel for many an anime and manga, but that's because it's very epic, not the other way around.

Nick's back, brought me the last two Harry Potters, so now I have an embarrassment of things to read. Yay!

More details on what went on in Abu-Gharayb prison. I couldn't finish reading. I've heard this story from other news media, including NPR. I know some of you out there who like the current administration would like to write this all off. If so, I think you should question why you're acting that way instead of expressing outrage.
