So after some discussion with various women, I'm wondering what psychological factors play into a woman having a bad menopause. I have a number of women friends who have been through menopause and certainly my mom has.
Out of all those women, NONE of them has had a bad time with it. A little inconvenience yes, but all the hot flashes and agony, no. I'm wondering if this is because they've all been comfortable with their bodies. Even my mega-Catholic mommy isn't hung up; she has some quirks from being an adolescent in the 50s but overall she isn't too bad.
I'm thinking it might not even have to do with being comfortable with *femininity*. Except for real physical problems like endometriosis, I've noticed that the women who go mad over cramps are very, very "girly" ones. This is a generalization, but I wonder if it means anything. I'm thinking that if you're cool with your body overall, even if you're not really big into being female, that this makes a difference in the amount of horror you go through every month and moreso when it comes time to give up Aunt Flo.
Any comments? Guys make observations too, let's hear 'em.
