buddykat, this site backs up my friend's experience in the 80s of having her hair cut off when she joined the Navy. I just got curious, and this is the site I've been using for my Army info.

The marine layer burned off particularly early, so I'm just going to finish my coffee, have a couple glasses of water, and head for the lake.

I have an associate in Montreal who is 50 and has some very antiquated ideas about gender relations. Her comments recently so horrified me that I'm asking everybody here for input, then I'll send her the link to this. This started from a conversation about the Pill, where she flabbergasted me by saying that the Pill was practically a sign to men that a woman was sexually available.

I KNOW this is a hot button, but PLEASE try to be informative, not abusive. I'm trying to educate here!

Steve, I know you'll probably object to me posting this, but I really found it intensely upsetting, and I'm still upset because I love men and don't like hearing them badmouthed, nor autonomous women belittled.

garpu, I got the rosary and the Joan of Arc medal today. Thank you! The rosary is a little heavy for my uses (it makes noise when I shake it) but the medal is now attached to the cord of the lightweight plastic rosary I'm taking.

With my MOS of Water Purification, there's a good chance I'd be sent out with my team to put up water treatment plants in war zones. I really don't see why that burden should be placed upon only men. I'm glad the House saw it my way.

I'm a feminist. Equality means sharing the parts of duty that suck. Now let's get some males out to do their share of the housework, dammit. I'm holding up my share of the equality bargain.
