Oct. 22nd, 2005 12:11 pmThings are getting wack at my company. This week, I don't know how many people got picked up for using tobacco in the barracks (smoking and dipping). Another private overdosed on a drug so new I'd never heard of it. It's called CCC. He may die. Nonetheless, I got early pass release so I'm at my parents' place now.
"Kingdom of Heaven" is okay, I enjoyed it even if it couldn't lose that American conviction that everyone is equal. It completely lacked any comprehension of the medieval view of the cosmos, which was very hierarchical. I haven't gotten to watching "Wicker Man" yet, but of course I've seen it before.
I bought Gundam Wing and am up to episode 5. God bless half.com: I found the whole series on there for $56 including postage as I may have said, and ordered it on Sunday. I got it at mail call on Wednesday. I'll be using them instead of Amazon when I can because Amazon won't send stuff to Army bases and half.com will. (Actually, Amazon will send to APO addresses--go figure!)
I'm on profile again. I sproinged my hips and lower back, probably from exercising on cold ground. We don't have PT mats as we did at Basic. I was eating ibuprofen and sucking it up until Monday night when my right hip spasmed so badly that I cried out and fell to the floor. My roommate insisted that I go to sick call, and she was right, so I went. I have to wear running shoes with my BDUs though, always an attractive look. >_<
The weeks are going by more slowly, not speeding up as I'd hoped. Part of this is that the weather is now grey, damp, and chilly which makes for a LONG day when you work outside. Still, 40 days and a wake-up. It's just Lent: The Sequel. I'll get by.
