May. 8th, 2006 10:37 amAnd I'm very pleased about this one. This was the Mexican coat of arms during the short period of time that it was under Hapsburg rule in the second half of the 19th century. I made this one just for talking history with
electorprince.

May. 8th, 2006 12:41 pmToday I woke up to find a text message from a very bored
electorprince on my phone. I pledged to keep him as entertained as I could, and the topic of the day has been...pork. I can't abide the stuff. I like turkey bacon and ham, but even before my vegetarian years I'd sworn off the pork version as too greasy. I've never liked pork chops or roasts; I find them comparable to eating thick cardboard.
I've been giving the Kaiser his daily pills (he takes prednisone and lysine) in these soft salmon flavoured "Pill Pockets" treats, but they're about 45 cents each and I need three for every time I give him his meds. I thought liverwurst might be the right consistency and taste and price for me to wrap them in. "If he's a true German he'll love it," was what E-prince commented.
He swallowed the proferred bit of liverwurst in one gulp and gave me his "I want more!" look. Due to the sodium content, he can't just have it at will, though. He has other yummies for that.
I decided that out of my friendship to
electorprince I'd try it. My response was "UGH!" He said that smacked of intolerance (
americanstd said he'd have called me a racist) and I qualified that I didn't like the texture, the initial taste was okay, but the aftertaste was foul.
americanstd agrees with me about the aftertaste but that that means "you have to eat it more". "No thanks, man, I'm good," I told him.
E-prince had mentioned having it on a really dark rye bread, but I commented I don't like rye bread.
americanstd thinks I'm nuts, but he loves caraway seeds, which is the dominant flavouring in akvavit, the Danish alcoholic beverage of choice. E-prince just said my tastes in food were very "Moorish". That's more than likely it.
For the record, I had a salad for lunch. Dinner will be a fish stir-fry, and I'd do well to start the brown rice for it now, I think.

May. 8th, 2006 02:25 pmI didn't get the job. They hired someone from another agency.
Shelley at OfficeTeam says she has other jobs to discuss, so I'll hope for the best. Maybe it's good I didn't get the job because I would have been driving so far every day with gas the price it is now.
At least that's what I'm telling myself.

Some GOOD news finally....
May. 8th, 2006 07:51 pmNot gettting the job was disappointing, but then I went to go fetch Steve from work. We stopped off at MCAS Miramar for gas and groceries and to laugh at Marines. Then when I came home I found THREE cheques from Unemployment. YES! I've written my tuition cheque FINALLY and that's going into the mail to Universite de Montreal tomorrow. Oh hell, I better register for summer session! But at least I won't get kicked out of school. I *should* be finishing up finally.
Then we need to pay a couple of bills and whatever's left can get put towards a car.
