Magical Princess Mei-Mei...
Oct. 29th, 2006 08:09 am...snores like a MOOSE.
She weighs 10 pounds and her bulk is all fur, which has thickened and become plushy since she found a good home. She is dainty and fine.
Last night I woke up to what I thought was Steve snoring softly. (When he gets going, he can rattle the windows.) It turned out it was just Mei-Mei snoring at top cat-volume.
Steve commented that that's a good thing, because it means she feels safe enough that she can go into really deep sleep.
Very cute though.

Not HST's Las Vegas
Oct. 29th, 2006 07:02 pmI'm re-watching "Fear and Loating in Las Vegas", which made me think, "Darn it, I've only been to Vegas once, and I want to go again." So I checked out the web site for the Flamingo...and the cheapest rooms are $434 a night!
Las Vegas used to be a cheap destination, $20/night at Circus Circus. Not anymore, it seems. HST referred to Las Vegas as "the vortex" of the American Dream. Perhaps this is an apt metaphor.
Then again, in the book "The American Dream" turns out to be a nightclub that became a Psychiatrist's Club, and it burned down.
