Onwards and upwards
Jan. 31st, 2007 04:40 pmDespite a cold, wet, woke-up-from-a-nightmare-disoriented start, today was all right. I got my AKO up and working again, to find an e-mail from the 1LT who found Steve's wallet. It was at the National Guard armory just a few exits north of here.
I thought about asking them what they did, since it was maybe a 10 minute drive as opposed to the 45-minute one to Oceanside, but scratched that idea as soon as I saw their facility. The National Guard truly are the red-haired stepchildren of the Army family. My Reserve Center is old, but it's far from decrepit and it's scheduled for demolition and reconstruction starting this year. This place was awful, like an elementary school in outward appearance and layout but with bare cement floors and wire fencing inside. I retrieved the wallet, thanked them, and left, glad I'd never so much as contemplated joining the Guard.
I got home, applied for six jobs, went off and did laundry, called Office Team to tell them I have Photoshop now (will test with them later this week), changed the sheets on the bed, and got Steve. Unemployment is bad for the finances, but it does lead to a house that looks like people live in it.
Tomorrow is workout day. I've decided I must use the leg press more because I had a hard time lifting myself up on one foot into the water truck during our FTX. I weigh about 140 in battle rattle, so pressing that easily is the goal. I hate to say it, but that means I have 50 pounds to go.
