Good things

The massive amount of support we've been getting. I don't know if everyone can get a feel for how wonderful this is. If it had only been a case of car exploding (and getting ripped off on repairs), or paycheque bouncing or kitty getting sick it'd be one thing, but the 1-2-3 punch was just...wow.

Second, although yes I will take Mei-Mei to the vet, we got her glucose into the safe range very quickly. It was in the 500s this morning and had not gone down this evening. We gave her two units of insulin and she went down to the safer end of "low". She gets one unit in the morning.

I'd head to the vet with her immediately, but we MUST go to the DMV first-thing to register the car and get it tags. I'm not on the title yet so I need to get onto it or I can't drive the vehicle. We also need to get more gold-plated squishy food (as opposed to gold-plated dry food) at which time I'll set up the vet appointment.

Not so urgent, getting DoD stickers on the car.

It's almost one; I need to go to sleep so I can get up and give Mei-chan more insulin tomorrow.

Thank you all again.

Okeedokee. So we went to the DMV at 8 a.m. to register the car. They weren't able to do that just yet, so we have temporary stickers and it cost us less than we thought. Good thing.

Steve was hungry and sent me over to the Henry's across the street to grab some food bars while we waited. Well what should I find but a display of Celestial Seasonings Holiday Teas and Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride, which of course I grabbed. Good thing.

The naval base couldn't give us permanent DoD stickers until we had the real stickers for our license plates, but getting a temporary was relatively painless. Good thing, and I know they have good service for the real stickers later.

We came home after getting Mei-Mei's food to find her bright-eyed on the bed. We need to check her glucose in 15 minutes. Giving her 2 units gave us a scary result six hours later (she dropped from 572 to 57 in six hours, but never showed any sign of discomfort) so we're going to see what one unit does for her.

Doctor's appointment in less than an hour. What's wrong with my eyes is that this past spring when things started molding (it had been raining a lot) my eyes swelled up and watered and itched. It went away then came back with the Santa Ana winds. I had been to the doc as a follow-up to my pneumonia, then went to the optometrist who gave me eyedrops. Well, it's still going on and it's worse; my upper eyelids themselves are weeping and when I wake up my eyes are crusty and hard to open. They're visibly swollen and puckered and I can't stand it anymore. Plus I've gotten some facial rashes that I want something for. If I can knock that off my Hierarchy of Misery I'll be much happier again.

Right now I'm glad to have an active cat and my sugar cookie tea.

Mei-Mei's glucose just tested at 75. Normal. We're going to test again before we decide to give her any more insulin. Yes I still want to take her to the vet for liver and kidney function.

Today, as we were sitting in the DMV, I made it clear how happy I was to have my Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride tea.

Steve commented that he wanted me to start my own tea brand, called ANGRY Tea. His first flavour from the ANGRY Tea line would be--meatloaf. Followed by taco. In his opinion, hangover tea should give the consumer a hangover but I think it'd be more likely to make one that tastes like a hangover, and I have ideas.

We immediate glommed onto [profile] scinnlaeca as a likely candidate for thinking up new ones.

By the way, we figured out that the reason the Sugar Cookie tea tastes convincingly like sugar cookies is because there is powdered sugar cookie in it. The all-natural tea lists no wheat ingredients but has the caveat "contains gluten". A soaked teabag reveals what looks like white flour in it, so there you go. I'll buy a few more boxes to hoard during the year.
