Good Karma Farms (aka our back yard) is producing cucumbers, tomatoes and corn at a rapid pace. Unfortunately since
americanstd and I are working near-deployment hours at the office, the garden is starting to get overrun with grass and weeds. This weekend we'll have to make a concentrated effort to take care of that.
With today's bounty I made tomato sauce and Steve roasted two ears of corn as an appetizer. Corn you just yanked off the stalk is made to be eaten plain, not even salt required. While picking tomatoes and corn I thought of Frey; while pulling off the husks from the ear before I ate it I thought of Sif, wife of Thor. Her golden hair to the Norse represented wheat ready to harvest, not maize, but I think it works for maize better.
You know you're busy when you have to take time off from work to do laundry, and that's what I'm going to do tomorrow.
I'm just glad I had a chance to cook in my own kitchen again.
