I'm finally in Nashville. There was a consistent confusion as to if the conference was in Nashville or Knoxville and I ended up with orders cut for Knoxville, for which I have to take responsibility.
I did penance though; my Marriott Courtyard in Knoxville was in the middle of nowhere and while it was a reasonably comfy room, the fact that my last meal had been a sandwich eaten at the San Diego airport made things miserably. I finally ended up buying a Lean Cuisine and a Luna bar out of their Market section. Once I was at the airport to get to Nashville I had some Southwest Rolls at Ruby Tuesday's and a Sam Adams Seasonal.
I slept through both my flights pretty much, with a little reading done.
My hotel is nice. It's in an old bank building and they've maintained all the dark wood counters and imposing brass doors. My room is smallish, but what do I need really? I've got internet and a decent bathroom and a bed.
My taxi driver was an Israeli Catholic who left Israel 40+ years ago. The result, for him of having Jesus in his life? "Forgiveness. No one is perfect." Word.
So I've had an inexpensive but quite good spaghetti dinner and now I'm settling in. I'll probably sleep like a rock tonight.
