Drill Weekend
Oct. 18th, 2010 08:39 pmI drove up Friday afternoon, stopping at Sprouts for some Odwalla bars and looking for dinner, which I didn't find. Sprouts is owned by the Boney family who started Henry's. They sold the Henry's chain, regretted the move, and Sprouts is their response. I did find my two most favourite Stash teas, the Blueberry Superfruit and Green Tea Mojito with Matcha. Hurray!
I ate veggie sushi on Friday night and settled into my room. I think I might get to really like my Friday nights in the billeting.
Passed my PT test with a 256 (maximum is 300). I failed height/weight but passed taping so I'm okay. At the end of the weekend I was made squad leader, and two of the PT failures are on my watch. Ay! I've calendared calling the PT failures midway between yesterday and the next drill, and will call all my ducklings on the Monday before drill weekend.
Saturday night's dinner was at the same Japanese place. Ma'am's electrolytes were off, and when we passed the resto she said it looked good. I was feeling indifferent, so since she expressed a preference we went in there. She ordered veggie tempura and chicken teriyaki. The tempura did not stand a chance; she demolished it like you wouldn't believe. I made her buy some coconut water as well as Gatorade Rain and she felt better the next day. Yes, she knows my "babysitting Todd" stories.
Absolutely exhausted today, but I'll be at Steve's office tomorrow.
