Teppy on the beach!
Oct. 23rd, 2010 09:24 amThe SOUTH Beach that is. Tired of being fat, and with me trying hard to shed the pounds I gained in July and August, Steve and I decided to go low-carb again since it's worked like a charm the other two times we've done it.
It's working already; yesterday I was craving a bland sugar cookie made with white flour.
I'd forgotten how easy this way of eating is. Scrambled eggs get boring for breakfast, but we don't get all that hungry later. I love salads, although it's a challenge to get one that fills Steve up. However, serving chili with the toppings on salad greens works pretty well. Last night we went to Outback with Todd and Lourdes and Steve and I had grilled ahi as our appetizer and veggies as our side dishes.
There's grilled chicken for snacks in the fridge and dinner will be frikadiller with steamed veggies, with grated Parmesan substituting for the bread crumbs. Finally a use for that horrible shake cheese!
I also read that the reason I am retaining water might be because I'm not drinking enough, so I'm planning to down absolutely stupid amounts of water. When I lost weight in Afghanistan (and this was in the winter) I was drinking gallons every day.
Off to the commissary before all the Marines wake up.
