Dec. 10th, 2010 01:08 pmSo far, so good. I slept on the sofa bed with Ivan last night. He actually did let me sleep. I woke up a couple of times because I needed the bathroom, and he kept me awake for a while after each time, but I don't feel wiped out today.
Mei-Mei is asleep on HER side of the bed (the side I invade every night) and Ivan is spending a lot of time under the bed. That is, when he's not bouncing on my shoulders, helping me move furniture, etc.
He LOVES having a home. He was found in a garbage can in City Heights, so the theory is that he was feral and eating out of one and fell in (or was dropped in by a cruel person). Since his next home was a shelter, we didn't know what he'd think of a house with people in it, but it's just the best thing ever. He's eating, playing and affectionate so once Mei-Mei comes round, it's going to be good.
We've bought our first piece of non-Ikea furniture, a couch, at the MCX on Miramar. It's being delivered today. We're very excited about that; another step towards the living room looking like one occupied by people who aren't grad students.
Hippie update: they're moving. I'm actually kind of worried about Ashley. Creepo McCreeperson is apparently her boyfriend, and we've read about how he locked the dog out on a cold, rainy night. For the past week or so, all the windows have been covered with blackout curtains and they only go in and out when no one is around. Yesterday some friends were over there, which made me feel a little better because I'm seeing the "isolate victim from all contact with the outside world" phase of domestic violence. Neither of them have jobs, so they're always home together behind those blacked-out windows.
For us, though, it's a sunny day outside and Steve will be home soon from court, and it will be Caturday!
