Kinda good news

lady_kishiriaThey've pinpointed what caused Pop's kidney failure. It's what they call a "grand negative" infection in his blood. What that means is that it's not strep or staph, and they're liking E-Coli for it. He's been treated with antibiotics and had dialysis last night.
He's peeing a bit, which means there's some function, and he's joking with visitors and staff. He's very cheered by the fact that this isn't something that happened because he's old, but something that could just as easily have gotten me or Steve.
He likes his TV, a lot. This morning when we visited he looked at me and said, "What's that Japanese cartoons you watch?"
"What about 'em?" I asked
"Do they show a bunch of 'em for teenagers on Friday nights?"
"Yeah."
"I saw some of 'em. God almighty!"
I got a good laugh out of that. Sounds like he tuned into .hack/sign.
