Capt. Nichola Goddard just became the first Canadian female soldier to be killed since World War 2.

I will point out a few things about the captain that make her interesting to me. First, her husband is a civilian. Next, she was an infantry officer of the Princess Patricias, and former Artillery. Quite a reversal of roles there.

Neanmoins, restez-vous tres bien en paix.

I was pretty sad to hear the news. I'm sure those boots weren't easy to wear and she must have been a helluva woman to fill them. I just wish Canada would pump some more money and resources into their military. They've got some good, dedicated people that are way over-tasked.

From what I heard on the news, her family was very proud of her and said that gender was irrelevant to her ability to be a good soldier.

Requiescat in pacem.
