Tepintzin goes shopping
Jun. 27th, 2003 04:21 pmI woke up in an evil, evil, evil mood. Part of it is this headache I've had for the past two days. Even 3 Canadian Tylenol (with codeine goodness) can only dull the pain. So I shuffled out to Denny's and wrote in my paper journal until I felt better. I used to think diaries were egotistical and self-indulgent, but maybe there is something to them.
So I went to Five Points and got myself a pair of Ryka running shoes for $35. I really wanted New Balance even though they are more money, but none of the pairs fit because my left foot is visibly larger than my right. Then I went to Wal-Mart for jeans and came out with 2 pairs of Wranglers for $11 each.
I found that they have a line of clothes meant to appeal to Latinas called Salsa Sensations or something like that. They had these nice looking embroidered cotton blouses in my favourite colour in the whole world (sky blue), but they had forgotten something in their market research. Namely, Latinas are smaller than white women. Even the small was huge on me. Since I really wanted this blouse, I was pouty about that. Chingao!
I needed skin cream and found a store called Origins at South Coast Plaza. They had a night cream that really struck my fancy, and it was all natural and animal-product free. I also picked up a lipstick in Cima Garahau red.
Then, of course, the Evil Spirits forced me to go over to Kinukuniya around the corner. I wanted some stationery anyway to write notes to people in Mexico. However they had Gundam Ace 5 & 6, and they were only $7 each, so I got those and was happy. I haven't opened them yet, but I am hoping for Garma art in them.
Back now, waiting for Steve. I don't know what he plans to do tonight with Tony, but I'm hoping it involves the Goat Hill Tavern. It has the most beer taps in California or the like. It has sawdust on the floor, pool tables, no ambience, and it's in the registry of historic buildings because it's a building from World War II. American sailors used to drink there.
