...on the day of the repeal of DADT. Of this historic moment, queers unborn will tell each other, "And not a fuck was given on that day."

Phobes expected huge rainbow parades and anal copulation in the showers. No kidding; one even predicted in the Marine Times that Marines would be bringing their boyfriends, clad in evening gowns, to the Marine Ball.

How stupid can you be? Being gay does not equal being transvestite. Although a gay man who came to the Marine Ball would be wearing a MUCH more gorgeous one than the general's wife. That might cause some problems.

But ya know, we're experts and we are professionals. I hope many photos appeared on desks today and deployed troops felt free to call their "friend" on the other end of the telephone line "honey", concluding with, "I love you" at the end of the call.

Finally, in an unlocked entry I can say, I'm here, I'm queer, and it doesn't change a thing.

Nope, it doesn't. :)

Someone actually said that a guy would be wearing a dress to the Marine Ball? (not like there isn't already precedent with Marines bringing their non-Marine husbands.)

I'm in the middle (well, I think I'm up to 300 comments) of reading about the Marine Times article (and COVER). So I've already read about the irrational fear that a male Marine will escort his male date (who's wearing a gown) to the Ball and rolled my eyes.

Meh, Marines are the lowest-brow of the Forces anyway. We Army may all sleep in tents, but we just chain up the Marines outside.

So what happens to all the people who were dishonorably discharged as a result of DADT?

Chapter 13 of AR 635-200 did not mandate dishonourable discharge for homosexuals. It was a General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge. Sometime Honorable.

All those discharged now are eligible to return into the Armed Forces. The problem is that there is already a waiting list. However, for rare MOS's this may not be a problem.

Ah, okay. I was not sure what kind of discharge those people got. I guess it makes sense that they were honorable or else there would be a whole lot of gay people having a hard time finding work.

I'm very happy that DADT is dead. Now DOMA needs to follow suit.
