I think it's noteworthy that I ate a hamburger today and didn't feel wicked at all. I felt a bit of a sense of loss. I miss the traditions, I do not miss the religion.

that's because you've done so many evil things, like join the Army while being a woman and read books while being a woman and drive while being a woman, that eating a hamburger on Ash Wednesday is pretty trivial in comparison.

Rick Santorum told me so and he wouldn't lie to me about something like that.

And now I'm on the computer while female. I didn't ask my headship if I could get on. How doomed I am.

I spaced and we had a soup I made yesterday. Money's short, so we eat what we've got. Somehow I think that's more in the spirit of things than running to the store, wasting money, and getting something without meat.

I didn't eat meat, but I forgot to get ashes

I got the ashes, and I tried to fast and go without meat. However, now I'm shaky, because of the lack of protein.

I also, for lunch, ate some Jambalaya which had beef and pork in it. Because I got about a gallon of the stuff yesterday, and I figure, in my twisted Episcopalian way of thinking, that eating it on a Fast Day is a lesser sin than not eating it, because if I don't have some every day, there's no way I'm going to finish it all before it goes bad. And my freezer is full. Thus, I don't want to waste the food.

I went to Mass and didn't eat meat today and won't on Fridays, but not because of religion but out of respect to my mother. She knows that I don't share her religious beliefs, but we're willing to meet each other halfway. And since I grew up with not eating meat on Fridays during Lent, it's not a big deal :)

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's a little like homesickness.

Yes, Cat, that is exactly what it feels like. Even if this is the second Lent I've eaten whatever on Fridays.

I didn't realize one was supposed to skip meat on Ash Wednesday, only familiar with the Friday concept.

Well, I'm having issues. I ate my sandwich I didn't eat on Tuesday and it had a bit of turkey in it. I made cheese enchiladas for me (I only eat them with cheese) but used leftover meat for David because he can't handle veggie things.

I'm not feeling anything this Lent. I"m faith challenged I guess. We'll see if things get better. :(

I was a bit confused until the comments provided the context. Then I figured out what you meant (your former tradition, not your current one).

I've left Catholicism for non-Wicca paganism.
