Today I decided to try out the ELCA church. The experiment did not go well. The sanctuary looked like a Catholic church, but without the Stations of the Cross or anything Marian. The gospel was, coincidentally, the passage wherein Jesus says that Peter is the Rock upon which He will build His Church. Cue uncomfortable squirming from me. The minister who was going to preside over the service was male, and when pre-opening prayers talked about the "family of God" I had to get up and leave, due to an anxiety attack. I'm looking for a place of worship where it's okay to see "God" as either a metaphor or an impersonal universal force. I may try ELCA again, but today it was a world of Nope.

I went home, and felt creative, so I made a molasses-spice cake. It needed sweet frozen yogurt but I didn't have any. Dinner was channa masala. Steve spent the day at a match up in Phoenix, and he got me the birthday present of a .38/.357 Magnum Italian revolver I'd been wanting. We'll go to Desert Peak with it on Tuesday evening since Monday evening is a sacrosanct watching-wrestling evening.

Tonight we watched two episodes of "Naked and Afraid" followed by two episodes of "Cutthroat Kitchen". This is the super excitement you get when you've been married for 15 years. There are way worse things, oh yes.

What about the Untied Church of Christ? One of my dear friends attends both a UCC and a RCC, or did when she lived here. She loved my parish, which since getting a new pastor I've avoided, but it was a great one back in the day. But she loved the UCC here. The church here has a woman pastor, who is really beloved and incredibly intelligent and compassionate here.

I think you needed to move to Santa Fe. ;)

I discovered that there was a Unitarian church right nearby, so I'm going to give them a shot on Sunday. I just miss being in a congregation. It's why I even enjoyed the IFB church services.

A Unitarian church might be good, cause you can get that feeling of community worship and sense of belonging.

We have one here but I haven't gotten the sense that it's anything really united by anything specific. We have lots of new-age, spiritual but not religious centers here too.

Good luck. I hope you find something.
