Thoughts on anime

lady_kishiriaI was invited to a Gundam-a-thon over July 4 weekend. I passed, and it was good that I did because it would have meant a weekend watching Gundam SEED, a show I've decided I really don't like.
My criteria is the five-episode test. If I see five episodes, consecutive or not, and still don't like the show, I quit watching. That's already a 2+ hour commitment I've made. This is why I roll my eyes when people say, "Oh, wait till episode 20, then it gets good."
I'm prompted to say this because I'm at episode 55, midway through the series, of Legend of the Galactic Heroes. For the first two seasons, this show has been good. Now it's getting BETTER. I'm working on my dissertation, but I'm definitely having to use this series as a reward because the story is so great.
I spent a little time re-organizing the DVD shelves, since about half of them were taken up by CDs. The CDs are still there, but I was able to shuffle the shelves to accommodate more DVDs. Two are Gundam and nothin' but. I'm such a dork.

Date: 2004-07-27 01:38 pm (UTC)Well, look at it this way. While SEED only starts to improve at episode 29, it still is better than what its new sequel, SEED Destiny, appears to be thus far. It's too early to really be judging, but SEED Destiny looks like it's going to suck harder than a $10 whore with a crack addiction to feed, so I'm happier with SEED.
And then there's Zeta, which owns them both. So screw SEED.
And there is nothing wrong with being a dork. Dorks equate to nerds. Bill Gates is a nerd. I don't think I need to go any further into that.

Date: 2004-07-27 10:11 pm (UTC)I am happy to have seen some new series during Con, and Yukikaze looks good. So does Read Or Die TV. I did notice there were a lot of series that just plain sucked, and compared to them Wolf's Rain and Last Exile completely rocked.
