Aug. 4th, 2004 08:00 pmGot some research done today. I'm going to do only 5 pages on the military conquest of Mexico, so I'm getting that data together so I can start tappy-tayppying away on it.
But since Steve has taken a week off from school, I knew we should do something fun and we are short on money. So I suggested going to the Maritime Museum and seeing the HMS Surprise from "Master and Commander".
For those who have never been there, the Maritime Museum consists of four vessels, the Berkeley which is a San Francisco ferry, the Medea which is a yacht, the Star of India which is an iron-hulled fishing/transport vessel, and the Surprise. Exhibits are aboard the Berkeley, which has stained glass on the passenger deck. How I'd love to take a ferry with stained glass. Otherwise, it was pretty much like the Staten Island ferry, just set up for receptions.
The Star was pretty neat, the Medea merely okay beyond that Badira would like to own it. I took several photos of the Surprise, but the one I took of the stern with the name of the ship didn't come out. Foo! I'll be sending all to Dad this weekend (my parents don't know I've quit my job) and the ones of the Surprise have been e-mailed to Shadow who LOVES "Master and Commander".
After that, I came home, took more notes, and then made pasta sauce. I'd harvested some basil yesterday, so I was due. It came out dee-lish; I had mine over some soy pasta and made turkey patties for Steve. I love to cook. Frittata with goat cheese and roasted red pepper tomorrow, I think.
