Legend of the Galactic Heroes...subtext

Yesterday, I went over to ,sahari's house to watch anime with her and ,heyoka. We watched the first episode of "Heroic Legend of Arslan" (very cool, Steve & Co. might like), "Last Exile" (very, very cool, will watch more) and some of the LOGH gaiden.

Okay, we all know about the "Reinhart-slash-Siegfried" subtext. But it STOPS being subtext when one of the characters says something to confirm what we all suspected.

Sieg's been on vacation. He leaves pouting, because Reinhard has a lot of year-end stuff to do and can only go join him later. Sieg goes to some planet or colony or whatnot where instead of drinking Mai Tais and reading Sports Illustrated by the pool, he solves some kind of crime mystery. After a few days, he meets Reinhard at the airport, looking all happy when he finally sees that head of blond hair coming off the plane. He tells Reinhard how much he missed him. Reinhard says something to the effect of, "I'll relax best lying stretched out next to you."

I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP! Sahari and Heyoka read that subtitle too!

Will someone please buy Siegfried and Reinhart a wedding cake and two tickets to Toronto?

I don't think they need the two tickets to Toronto. When Reinhart becomes Emperor of the Galactic Empire, it won't matter who he marries. Unless it's Wen-Li. That's a whole other ball of wax there.

BTW, Reinhart and Siegfried = Char and Amuro? I mean, look at the character designs.

Reinhard tried (I think) to elevate Yang into a false Siegfried who just happened to be on the other side of the conflict. It didn't work; Yang's way too together to be a false anything. That's why Reinhard got drunk and settled for Hilde.

(Nothing against Hilde, she's smart and competent but damn! she could do better than Reinhard, who I really dislike.)
