(no subject)
Jul. 7th, 2003 06:12 pmApologies to everyone struck by the ¨I have no friends¨ comment. I mean of course local and real-life friends. Right now my whole social life is on-line except for when I´m with Steve´s friends.
The L.A. Times called (showing their number thanks to the do-not-call list) to say there would be a copy of the Times lying in front of our door on Sunday. Okay, that´s groovy, I like the Times and appreciate the warning that there will be a strange paper out there. Then the woman asked, ¨So what was your first name again?¨ Ah-hah. ¨I didn´t give it,¨ I said, but gave her a pseudonym just so she has something to put down for her verification. She asked for my last name and I said, ¨Why don´t we hold off on that until/unless I decide to take the paper?¨ Which I won´t.
I slept for about an hour and feel better again. Nonetheless, even a day when I am sick as a dog is salvageable when I have a job interview.
Steve asked, ¨So you´re not going to apply to the Canadian Forces?¨ Yes, I am. However, by the time they process my application, it´ll be a few months. If I go for the tests and they accept me, it´ll be about a year after that. Until then, I have to feed the family somehow, and he was so insistent when I was in Mexico that I come home and find a job that I´m not going to slack off now. After a few months maybe I´ll be able to go up to Montreal for meetings with advisors and things like that too.
