Oct. 4th, 2004 10:20 amI went to Tijuana this weekend because I had to get more Tapazole for Badira (it's about 1/4 the price down there) and man, they are just renovating the whole city.
As I came off the pedestrian bridge, I ran into Oscar, my usual pharmacist, in front of a new pharmacy on Viva Tijuana. I said I was going to get lunch and come back.
Getting lunch proved challenging. I knew the 24 hour Sanborns was no longer there, having burned down some months ago. Let's Go said there was a taco restaurant on Constitucion, so I headed there only to find that it had been replaced by a brand-new grocery. So I turned around, went to the cathedral as I always do, then back out to Revolucion. I was in the mood for something with nopal (cactus paddle) in it, and on finding a taco/torta place where they were cooking what always looked good in the window, I went in. I ordered a vegetarian quesadilla, which turned out to have nopal in it, so that was perfect.
I quested for things for my grandmother, found myself in a stained-glass shop and came out with a Christmas tree ornament and a angel to be hung in a window. The ornament got squished later by an American with a big cooler. >_< I should have had the guards hand-examine that instead of putting it on the belt for the x-ray machine. Anyway, I got lost in the maze of artisan shops, and found myself in the parking lot of the Smart & Final there. I was tempted to go there, but didn't want to miss going to my regular pharmacist, so I didn't.
Oscar sold me the Tapazole even cheaper than usual, so that was good. The line at the border didn't even start until actually inside the inspection station, so that was better.
After that, since Steve was tied up with a quest on Final Fantasy XI, I went to
sahari's place to join her and
heyoka for the first two episodes of "Lost". This show is really darned intense, and they are clearly thinking forward to making it go on a long time. I just don't know how long it will be before the viewers get frustrated with constant plots about trying to get home. "Like Gilligan's Island" without the humour, Heyoka said. I'd been trying to avoid the "Gilligan's Island" analogy, but she thought it was pretty inevitable.
Sunday I finished taking some notes, today after exercise I have to start writing again.
