"The site has had technical problems repeatedly in the past several days and has been down several times. I didn't want to discuss this, but I don't want anyone to think the problem was an incompetent hosting service. Just the opposite. The site has been subjected to a full-scale, well-organized, massive attack with the clear intention to bring it down. The attackers have tried repeatedly to break in, but the server is a rock-solid Linux system which has stood up to everything they threw at it and hasn't crashed since I got it in May. While our troops are fighting and dying to bring freedom of speech to the Iraqi people, there are forces in America who find this concept no longer applicable to America. I don't know who is behind this attack yet (although we are working it), but it is too professional to be some teenager working from a home PC. Given that all the hate mail and threats I get come entirely from Republicans, I can make an educated guess which side is trying to silence me, but I won't say. And I won't surrender to cyberterrorists."

This is why I get scared.

In the meantime, another package is in the mail for the Any Soldier project. I still need to get plushies and kid's clothes to send to the toy mission for Sadr City, if it's still going on.

have you read the post on bush_sucks about people getting attacked for their anti-bush stickers on their car?

that just adds to the fear. i can't believe that it has come down to attacking people.

Then there was a friend of mine who has a pro-bush sticker on his van (the one that says "don't be a girlie-man, vote for bush" or something), and at a local convention, while it was parked in the hotel parking lot, it was ripped off his car.

I might not like bush, but I'll be damned if I approve of some jerk trying to take away anyone's freedom of speech!

It's just very wierd to me that this is coming down to borderline violence. Never, if I can recall from history has an election come down to blows since probably the Civil War.

I guess this is the result of how infantile the campaigns have become. It must be a bad sign when at this point no one would blink an eye if Kerry called Bush a retard and Bush called Kerry a douchebag in their next debate.
