Back again, back again
Oct. 28th, 2004 07:50 amIt was sure nice being back in my own bed, with my own spouse, with my own cat. Badira is quite happy to have me home. Still, was hit over the head by the brick of "darn, life in Canada is better than that in the States". The Canadian dollar is up to .82. Everybody has a job. The streets are still clean. The people are still wonderful.

thepunkpanther, the guy who took the footage of the Improvised Explosive Device that we watched got out okay, and the Bradley continued to just hang out through the whole thing. No casualties taken.
Getting back was interesting....first Air Canada showed the same movie, "The Notebook" on the way to Los Angeles and getting back. I don't like love stories and ignored it both times. However they also showed a film called "The Clearing" which I tried watching because it was Daniel Dafoe and Helen Mirren, but I got bored after 45 minutes. If the flight was long enough for 2 movies, I really would have liked "Prisoner of Azkaban".
On arrival at LAX, I waited for a bus that never came and finally hopped a shuttle service. On arrival in the OC it turned out the bus station for the bus that never came had been torn down. Still, Steve was able to talk to them on the phone (!!!) which means heavy drugs must be involved on their part. Pop drove me to the Amtrak station, although I bet the shuttle driver would have taken me if I'd asked since he goes to all the hotels on request. Amtrak was comfortable, if a bit long. Then, 24 hour Mexican food on arrival.
Steve now has the latest Quebec Code of Civil Law, a legal dictionary (oops! Forgot to give that to him!) and a volume of "Love Hina" in French. I also got the first volume of "Tarot Cafe", unavailable in English yet but for sale in French. Yay!
sahari,
heyoka, I saw "Lost" last night but as you can imagine was too tired to come over. Finally some answers about the Korean characters, though.

Date: 2004-10-28 11:12 am (UTC)Congrats. That's my four days in Vancouver in a nutshell.
I'm feeling a lot of cognitive disconnect right now as a result too. Dang it, I shouldn't come back into the country of my birth feeling like it's not "home" anymore. And the feeling hasn't gone away in the week since I've been back. :-(
