Aug. 5th, 2003 06:08 pmSteve gets in his financial aid on the 22nd. I don't know when I get mine; U de M tends to be kinda difficult to reach now that I am not there to prod them in person. (This is the last year I'm taking it; my tuition is down to $500 a semester, Canadian, but I just need the extra money now. We were planning on paying several months' rent on the 22nd for that reason because we are close to broke now.
Turns out the apartment complex has new management, although our administrator, Christine, is still there. When Steve came in with some rent to explain that the rest was coming, she said the new management wants people who don't pay by the 5th evicted.
Bad news, but...we're being offered the house.
So Steve needs to check California law and beg Maxx (house landlord) for another day to find out wtf is going on. Personally, I think we are almost in a no-lose situation; if we convince the new management that they WANT to keep us as tenants because we have never missed a month of rent, never party, and aren't selling drugs out of the flat, we can make a relaxed (and legal) move next spring. On the other hand, if they want to evict us, which I am fairly sure is not legal, FINE. We can move into the house, although it involves a fair bit of stress to do so.
Don't know what's going on or what is going to happen, but I feel oddly calm about it.
