We went to the gym, which I wanted to do, had some Taco Bell which Steve was hankerin' for, and then went to Smart & Final and a plant nursery.

S&F is where we get our sugar-free Torani syrups. They now have white chocolate, caramel, and coffee. Kinda redundant to put coffee syrup in coffee, but I grabbed the white chocolate and my old fave, English toffee.

We went to the plant nursery to buy me some new tomato plants. Lack of sun on the bedroom balcony killed my previous ones, so we hauled pots of dirt to the sundeck and I put in my new plants. The palm tree is already up there as I've said, and I just started another pot of cilantro.

Steve also got me the funniest clock. It's a military-green rectangle with a clear plastic window in which you can see a Zaku head. Press the button on top and it lights up, makes Zaku noises and plays the attack music. I can think of nastier ways to wake up (bloodcurdling screams, cats vomiting, cats licking your armpit) but that still would kinda suck, so it's on my desk instead.

Tonight we're going to Vesuvio Gourmet, an Italian restaurant [personal profile] caprine recommended. We liked her previous recommendation, DeMille's, but Vesuvio has a larger menu and vegetarian baked pastas, which is what I'm after.

Well, [personal profile] caprine, not that I've ever doubted you when it came to getting something to eat, but you are totally the queen of knowing SD restos as far as I'm concerned. Vesuvio ROCKS. Baked non-carnivorous pastas, yummee-yum! And I've got lasagne for my lunch tomorrow.

Talked to Don on the phone...he did a 10 minute exposition on the backstory of Galadriel. Um, okay. This is someone who flew to New Zealand for the debut of Return of the King after all. Glad he's found a new hobby in Valois history.

Me, I am being eaten by Aztec culture. I found myself feeling guilty for my unswept floor. Dirt on a floor is tlazolli, bits of displaced matter and thus the impinging of chaos into order. I could feel my Nahua foremothers glaring at me, thinking, what a dirty and immoral daughter you are. You have tlazolli all over the place.

Then I remembered that my Nahua foremothers didn't have a dissertation to research. Nonetheless, sweeping the main room is on my list for tomorrow.
