Yesterday I realized there's no denying it.  Most of the five pounds I've been trying to lose are located in one spot:  my butt.  My rump has achieved a rumpiness it never possessed before.

So the tactic is this:  no alcohol Sunday-Thursday, no sugar (this restriction will be lifted for the not-wedding this weekend), and adding the Stairmaster to my gym routine.  I can currently manage five minutes at a time before screaming for mercy.

Consider any deviation from this program to be a lapse in judgment and call me on it accordingly.

Huh!

I went to the gym intending to use the cross-trainers. They were already in use so I ended up on one of the stationary bikes. I transferred to a cross-trainer later. This was the right thing to do; my legs were sore after my workout, which they aren't after running.

I tried getting on the stair-climber, but found out quickly that the machine is too big for me! Same with the first stationary bike I used.

When changing from my work clothes to my exercise clothes in the dressing room, I weighed myself in my underwear. I came in at 127, three pounds less than two weeks ago. What this shows me is that I need to ignore the poundage part (except insofar as I need to stay under a certain weight limit) and go by how my clothes fit. Rumpiness is making all my pants fit wrongly.

More again Thursday. Tomorrow I have to do more laundry.

Note to horror and thriller fans: "The Orphanage" is a great ghost story. Four stars.
