Jul. 25th, 2003 09:38 pmtomorrow is Gay Pride in San Diego, but I'm not going. The main reason is that I hate to go to Pride alone. In Toronto and Montreal I always had lots of friends to go with. another is that the parade ends in Balboa Park for the big festival...entry to which is $12.
WHAT THE FUCK? I'm sorry, but Gay Pride festivities are a RIGHT not a PRIVELEGE. I can afford that $12, but that's not the point. This sort of thing should be free. Otherwise, poor queers and young queers, and there are many, have to dig deep to attend their own celebrations.
Also, the thing I really, really want to do is go to UCSD's library. For those who don't know, I've had a library card there since last fall. It's been a lifesaver for my research. I need to start that up again, and it's a need I'm feeling like hunger. So tomorrow I'm just going to go over to the Geisel Library (named after Dr. Seuss, whose real name was Theodore Geisel) and get back to work.
Speaking of work, things continue to go well. I'm re-organizing the office now, and finding all these member packets where the applications have been filled out but no one has sent these new members their information and laminated membership cards. So I'm taking care of that as well as digging out all these piles of STUFF that nobody knows what it is.
And now the weekend is here. I've been to the gym. I've decided to skip the treadmill for now and work on the cross-trainer until my strength and cardio are up to snuff. I did okay as I watched some incomprehensible anime on the International network. I think the show was called "Try", and its art looked like "Trigun".It was less self-parodying than "Trigun" though.
