Well, it provided me with some good leads towards Getting A Life. Lead #1 is that Gaylaxicon 2004 is going to be really close to my house, in April. I'm going to sign up and go. I'm also going to write about being on a fanfiction panel and maybe get on the con-com. I realize that I can't seem to make friends with non-fans, because the second you admit to being into SF, anime, comics, etc, people start looking at you differently. A lot like being queer, eh? So I'm going to get in on that and see if I can make friends that way.

Also, there is a sort of co-op neighbourhood called Azalea Park southeast of Balboa Park. It is oriented towards having a diverse community in revamped old houses and apartments. One 2 BR, 1 BA house was going for only $25 more a month than we now pay...and it's not a ghetto! They are doing a neighbourhood tour next Sunday; we are going to go. They are even pet-friendly!

Oh, and for the third, there is a big bisexuality convention at the end of next month. It's free-but-please donate.

While I kind of don't want to settle in here, the attitude of "I refuse to be happy" is a bad one, so I won't give in. Hopefully I will have lots of people hanging out at our place eventually, since we have a Playstation, a PS2, lots of cooking experience, computers, DVD, VCR, and the World's Most Comfy Couch to offer.

As for the event itself, I still don't think there is any good reason to have to pay $12 in order to get information and spend money. The parade was okay; after the big ones at Toronto and Montreal it's hard to get too excited about people just marching or riding in a gussied-up pickup truck. I still got some photos, though. I bought Steve a t-shirt with a very nice grizzly bear on it, a teal Pride tank top for myself, and picked up a lot of info. It wasn't too crowded, which was good. Much better than staying home and sulking.
