(no subject)

As life would have it, I'm sick.

I got Steve to work and went to the gym to work out. While there, my intestines became really angry with me, and I had to rush home. Immodium has stopped most of the unpleasantness, but now I'm wrung out and groggy. I did get a little bit of editing done on this article, but I didn't finish it the way I'd hoped.

The silver lining is that as I was editing, I was thinking, "This is really good. Maybe I should contribute it to a more established journal than the one I've been considering." So I've sent off an e-mail to the Catholic Historical Review asking for their guidelines. Cross fingers.

No word from advisor, but I don't know if I should phone. If I don't hear from her, I'm writing to other advisor. I am very afraid of this seen as being game playing, but this is my life we're talking about here.

Anybody from the academic world got any insights?

I don't think my advisor would mind if I published something without his knowledge. Then again, I could go say, "Hi, John, I'm going to strap some papier-mache wings to my back and jump off the roof," and he'd be fine with it provided I had a good reason for doing so. :)
