Prayers for the dead

Please keep my godson David Hendra in prayer. He was in his 60s and died a few days ago. I'd stopped communicating with David because...well, I hate to speak ill of the dead but he was one of these people who would complain about his life problems for hours but refuse to do anything about them. I'd be sadly remiss in my duties, however, if I did not try to solicit as many prayers for him as possible. Thanks.

Is "godson" supposed to be "godfather"? If not, would you mind explaining how that works? It's not part of the traditions of the religion I come from, and my impression was godparents are selected at birth...

Nope, I meant "godson". Simply put, he decided to convert from Anglicanism to Catholicism late in life, in his 60s. He needed a sponsor, and not being a social person, knew no Catholics who could take on the job. So I volunteered, since I was on the team teaching the RCIA class.
