I'm looking at the last two chapters of my dissertation and hoo boy, am I seeing the deficiencies. I totally neglected to put in Elizabeth Johnson's analysis of Mary as revelatory of the aspects of God that *should* pertain to God but instead have been foisted off on Mary because of a patriarchal fear of letting God show anything "feminine". For instance, even though the Old Testament describes God as a mother who writhes in childbirth, or who never forgets her children, or who nurses them at her breast, these things have been "outsourced" to Mary by the sort of minds that explode at the idea of God as Mother.
I feel stupid at that, but at least it can be fixed.
