Today I:

Familiarized myself with the American Psychological Association's style manual.

Sent the Zeta Gundam movie to [personal profile] patgund because he deserves it.

Had my mom offer to send money to help me finish the doctorate, so I faxed in my "inscription" to say that yes, I'm back from sabbatical. I will likely be going home (meaning Canada) within the semester to knock academic heads together.

(Oi! This means I better get a passport since I don't know if my Canadian one has been invalidated.)

Ran three up-and-down miles around the 'hood.

Just need to do a little professional writing and I'll have had a well-rounded day.

Check with the counselate in LA, though I suspect it's still good. You may want to get a US one as well though ASAP, in case you get called up.

To join the Army, I had to send in a form to the Canadian government saying I renounced citizenship. (I can resume it if I return to Canada to live.) So I doubt if it's still valid, but I can take it to YYZ or YUL to check.

If I get called up before getting a US passport (unlikely) the Army will pay for said passport, so that's not what makes it necessary for me to get one.

Hmmm.....I don't know how Canada works it, but when BitMum came over from the UK, they screwed up and said she had to renounce her UK citizenship, (she was by birth a US/UK dual citizen), and filled out a form to that effect. It was only much later she found that the UK doesn't recognize those forms, and that the only way she could renounce her UK citizenship was in front of a counsulate official.

Still may wish to get a status check from the LA counsulate.

This was a form issued by the Canadian government, not the American one. I'll still find out what's going on.

The Canadian one may still be good, but how does the U.S. military feel about you using it? Might be a better idea to travel on a U.S. passport for now. I doubt the Canucks won't get their panties in a bunch about it.

That means all of the Montrealers get to see you.

Helenka, Helenka, Helenka, all the times you've seen me in the past few years have been as weekend trips from Montreal. Never fear; being in-country and not going to Toronto is unthinkable.
