The anime meetup was great. Very interesting people who have jobs and write original fiction as well as being anime fans. Reece and Jenn like to cook.

We move more stuff into the new house tomorrow. I've been earmarked for being office manager at work.

So of course I get the call to schedule my Canadian Forces interview in Vancouver. I figured this would not happen until and unless I made strong steps to have a life here. Now I don't really know what to think.

I am going to start with the logical step. Since a ticket to Vancouver is expensive, I'm going to phone the recruiter on Monday (although he might be in tomorrow) to tell him that I really only want to do this if I can be a chaplain. I want confirmation that I can be one, and that there are jobs available. Last time I interviewed, I could and they did, since Canada is so into doing everything with gender parity. If not, I might not follow through. I don't know, and I'm soliciting opinions from thems who know (Punkpanther?).

If I can be a chaplain, I go in as a captain, but will be addressed as Madre, which is kinda neat.

Hey, even if they don't have a chaplain job open up front, I think that you should do the interview anyway -- hey, you never know what might happen -- there could be other fun stuff.

shouldnt be a problem.

They've got Pagan Priesthood in DND. so why not a female chaplain?

As you know, I'm more than happy to lead a rite if needed. I'm also hoping to do some same-sex marriages.

The Canadian military allows Catholic female chaplains. The United States does not. Figures.

If chaplaincy isn't available, Steve and I agree Intelligence would be an excellent career move for me, especially since that means I'd likely be in Ottawa.

When will the appointment be? Will you have 14 days warning? I just checked Travelocity and if you can book 14 days in advance and travel on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday, you can get a round trip ticket to Vancouver for 349.56 Canadian dollars (all taxes and fees included), which is approximately 256.46 US dollars. You can probably get it for about $5 less from the airline. For some of the flights, you only need to stay 1 day. Sorry about the Canadian to US dollar conversion, but I've been checking out prices and Travelocity set cookies, so it will only show me prices in Canadian dollars.
