I'm building my resume on-line and realizing I'm going to have to just put down highlights due to the fact that I've got 20 years of job experience, but only some of it is relevant.

At first, I was looking at all these places and dates and thinking, "Damn. I'm such a loser, working so many jobs. Why would anyone hire me?"

Then I got quite angry. I realize that this is the CV of a person who hasn't stuck in the same grind for more than a year and a half or two, tops, but that's because I've had a wild, exciting life and done a lot of things. Granted, it's time to settle down, but I've found a career track that I like and which feeds the adventure beast.

I guess I just need to put in the supplementary comments that I have been living in other countries, earning degrees, and things like that. But putting down every last slave job I've done to keep a roof over our heads...no, I'm not going to do that. Besides, half the places where I've worked, even for a good length of time, have since closed.

Instead of doing a detailed listing of each job, why not do a general category, stating the type of job and a brief explanation of what you gained from it. So, just one blob instead of numerous bloblets.

Good luck with it.

It's a resume that has to be filled out as a form, on line, so that's not an option. It also probably wouldn't work due to security reasons; I have to have "Secret" clearance for the job.
