The Forces offered me (not ordered me or anything like that) an appointment for October 6. I realize that I'm going to have to postpone because of my responsibilities here.

Namely, I am planning to ask for a hefty ($2/hr) raise on October 15, which is my three-month date. I already have time booked off for American Thanksgiving. I cannot think of any better way to sabotage my request for a raise than to ask for 2 days off while being evasive about the reason I need them. My manager isn't stupid, she'll know I'm up to something even if I don't say what it is.

I need this raise. Our rent is going up $200/month and Steve doesn't have a job. I can't afford to hurt my chances for it for something that may not result in work anyway. It's too much of a gamble right now.

So I'm postponing. I'm still planning on going through with this, but as Head of Household, I have to consider my family's well being and putting my raise (if not job) at risk doesn't support it.

I really doubt there are any CF transports leaving out of San Diego.

The problem isn't cost; for once I *have* money. It's getting the time off from work since the Forces centre is only open Monday through Thursday. I'm going to see if I can do something in January.
