Jun. 3rd, 2003 09:05 pmI sent away for an information pack from the Canadian forces. Unlike the sexist-as-hell US forces, they allow women to fill ALL positions except submarine. I looked into being a reserve military chaplain some years ago, but the way they do it is weird, weird, weird.
Now, unable to find work in this country, I´m thinking seriously of going into the regular forces. The thing is, Steve and Badira wouldn´t go with me. Steve is in law school and Badira likes the sun of San Diego.
On the other hand, I´d be going in as a captain, making $5,000 a month. I could send a lot of money back home to Steve. And I´d be *home*. Once again, I could feel the bite of icy wind on my cheeks and the soft fall of flakes through my window. I´d be in the comedic setting of Canada, and I could see my FRIENDS again.
A diabolical choice, but I am going to start filling out the forms anyway. I have to leave my options open, and if I really am committed to using this theology degree, this would be a very direct way of doing it.
If thepunkpanther or any other Canadian vets have input, let me know.
