As I said yesterday in my comment to
electorprince, I understand the media ban. Two of the families want the media, two do not, and they need to respect the wishes of the families who do not. I try to put myself in my folks' place if it was *me* in that coffin, and I can picture my mom getting ugly at someone trying to push a camera in her face.
This article avoids the "Flag on the Peace Tower" thing though, which is completely separate. I know that the speaker for the Tories said it's because they want to resume the habit of only doing it November 11, but I'm sorry, that's bullshit. You announce that BETWEEN military deaths, not "Mr and Madame Tremblay, we decided that YOUR dead soldier gets to be the one who gets the bone!" Oh yeah, that's really considerate. Canadian military deaths overseas are, happily, still rare enough where you can show the dead this kind of respect and they should do it.
