We've been in Orange County since last night. I like Orange County way better than San Diego, which has maybe one acceptable bookstore and noplace to get coffee at 10 pm without a ride into Hillcrest. OC is just more quintessentially SoCal than San Diego, even though SD tries to claim that for itself.
We went to go see Tony play softball, but their league is jinxed. This season they have had 5 major injuries and last night was the worst one yet. A guy named Dave was sliding into first and somehow managed to snap his ankle. Compound fracture. Foot almost clean off. Steve said that his body must just have refused to acknowledge the pain, because he lay there and said, "I think that's it for me." The ambulance came, and took him to Irvine Medical, and at least he got a morphine drip out of it.
So now I'm at the in-law's house. It's not too bad though; I'm doing the laundry and working on my lectures with few to no distractions. I just decided to take a break and check e-mail and do this update.
Only things I need for the Canadian Forces application now are the reference letters (which will go out Monday to Sean and Donnie) and some transcripts.
Ad mare usque marem.
