The Kaiser has decided that leberwurst no longer pleases him. I don't think this is a reaction to the leberwurst per se but to the fact that he knows it's concealing his pills. He became adept at eating around his lysine tablet before he abandoned leberwurst entirely.

Today I gave him his pills in the soft "pill pockets" treats. He ate around the lysine pill and I had to give it to him by hand.

I've told him that cats who don't take their pills in nice treats get them shoved down their throats as if they were dogs. He says "Bring it on". I foresee a household war.

Boot polishing day. Huzzah--not. I'm just glad I don't have to do them every day, although when I get money I'm forking out for the ACUs so I won't have to polish them EVER AGAIN.

That's right, the ACU boots are suede or something similar to it.

Is there anything else that could conceal the pills in an effort to placate the Kaiser?

As far as the ACUs, I am waiting until I am back into my non-pregnant state to buy any of that, since they don't fit the same as BDUs, I am told. Brian has one set, but wears his desert boots with them so no extra outlay of money.

The Kaiser is notoriously finicky, so we'll keep trying.

Our command won't allow us to wear the desert boots with BDUs so I'm stuck with black boots until I get the ACUs.

Not having to polish boots is an unusually-emancipating experience. I haven't done so in some months now, and I don't miss it.
