Her Majesty the Tsaritsa Irina doesn't work too terribly well as a call-name. We've also just been calling her Princess or Babycat or Princesscat, the second two of which were old nicknames of Badira's. Our girl deserves better than hand-me-down nicknames.

Well, we've discovered she really likes being called Mei-Mei. If you look at her and call "Mei-Mei!" she looks up at you and trills, so it looks as if that's going to be her handle around the house then.

¡jiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii! Out of sheer desire to irritate, 'Meimei' [妹妹] is what I call ricemansd. I have a mental image of you going about the house calling "meimei-a, meimei-a!" and having a rather confused chinese guy suddenly showing up, giving you the evil eye and demanding an explanation of just why it is, exactly, you think you are his dajie [大姐].

Although these days she is usually called La Gordota, I still sometime absentmindedly call KaliCat siusiu [小小] or siumui [小妹].

You could also La Princessa 'P-cat', or 'tzatza' (since she IS a Tsarina) -- and yes, trilling cats are one of the best things, ever!

Okay, we got "mei-mei" from "Firefly", I'll admit it. They're using it as "little darling" or the like. As I said, the kitty likes it. "Tzatsa" would be a very bad nickname; it's a hissing sound which cats take as a threat.
