...am I the ONLY person on my f-list with zilch interest (and a lot of puzzlement) in and about groups like the SCA and Amtgard?

It's entirely possible. :-D

No, you're not.

I know what they are, but I have no interest in them whatsoever.

I'll have to second or third this. I've have a few real life friends who participate in the SCA and Amtgard and this hold no appeal for me.

Nope. Various people have tried to get me interested, but it's just not me....

I friended you because you were an interesting friend of [personal profile] patgund and he and I have SCA in common. We didn't meet there, but at a Westercon. It's still all about the volunteerism though.

You and Pat are FAR from the only people on my list who do SCA or Amtgard. Some weekends I feel like the only one who finds the whole idea...just really, really bizarre.

No.

I'm not puzzled by the SCA, but I already have enough obsessive hobbies.

I have to confess that as a teenager I didn't mind dressing up and playing games, but even then the SCA left me cold.

My mom is in the SCA, and I've attended a few events with her, but I'm not a member, and I really don't want to be either. It's just a little too strict for my tastes, and I find it rather hard to be "creative" if everything has to have some kind of historical accuracy/relevance to it. I'll stick to going to Ren Faires where they're a bit more loose about things.

At this stage, you could afford neither, so your disinterest serves you well. Even I haven't set foot on a field in three years.

And when I can afford both, I still won't be interested. Money will doubtless be funneled into harps and harp lessons.

Harp and harp lessons that you can take to events and become famous with!!

I can do that without putting on silly (and expensive) costumes and pretending I'm living in an era I'd rather hang myself than actually live in. Playing La Jolla wedding receptions pays a lot more as a part-time job that playing in SCA "courts".

Not anymore, I don't. Used to, in the far-flung past.

Interest, yes. Participation, not in about 6 years and counting. I enjoy the more laid back events, and the reason to go to events in "the kindom of the west". That is... to beat on each other with sticks all day, and get drunk all night telling fairy tales of how we beat on each other with sticks. Not all that complicated, but still confusing to most.

Probably not.

I'm guilty of SCA-ness, as is my other half, however there are some people who take it a bit too far and we don't spend every weekend there regardless.

Also, SCA =/= my religion (http://www.sahsisk.org/). Kthx.

Only enough interest to know it's not for me.

I go to SCA events, but not enough to warrant a LJ interest. ;)

BTDT, not much interested now -- but I do like fancy sewing and making costumes, so it serves my interests by having friends who participate.

It sounds interesting, but I don't have the time, energy, or money.
