YouTube at this point only takes movies that are a maximum of 10 minutes in length. Each section of mine (I doubt anyone wants to see the WHOLE THING given that large swatches are in French)is about 30 minutes. Does anyone have ideas on how to handle this?

I've seen longer videos broken up into 10-minute chunks, usually with a second or two of overlap to make sure nothing gets lost. By using a standard naming convention (Video of the Defense part 1, Video of the Defense part 2, etc.) the next part of the video usually comes up in the Related Videos box, so it's easy for viewers to find.

What program should I use for that?

I've read positive reviews of jumpcut.com, a free web-based editor owned by yahoo, but don't have any personal experience with it.

Otherwise, depending on your OS, iMovie (Mac) and Movie Maker (XP) usually come bundled with the OS, and Movie Maker is available as a free download if you don't already have it.

Did a little more digging, and there's a program for windows called Easy Splitter, which is specifically for cutting videos into shorter clips, and has a 7 day free trial.

I find Movie Maker very easy, and it came on my PC. I've done portions of videos, and they do usually appear in the "related videos" box next to each other.

Also, if you make a director's account, your videos can be longer as long as they are 100 MB or less.
