Ganked from [livejournal.com profile] groovy_hatefuck, this is Corvus Corax. I recognize some of the horns they're playing as replicas of some found in medieval Scandinavian graves. Not safe for [livejournal.com profile] americanstd; they use bagpipes and that always makes him want to strip naked, paint himself black, and attack the nearest Irish pub in the name of Odin:

They just need the Techno-Viking as their interpretive dancer.

Oh my, this has got to be the best group you've aimed me at yet that isn't Squeeze of Scotch. I know what I want for Christmas this year.

So noted. :)

What did you think of Tyr?

Tyr rocks, but not like these guys do. If I had to pick, I think I'd go with CC.

Tyr are definitely more of a drinking-song band (Steve and I sing along with them in Faroese as we're driving down the freeway) and these guys are orchestral. Proves the comment made during an interview with Amon Amarth that if the German composers of the 19th century were alive today, they'd be doing metal.

Oh, and there's a lot of their musical performance on YouTube. Guess where I'll be spending my (abbreviated) evening?

Corvus Corax = WIN. I've been into them for a while, and I've gotten both my SCA member mom and [livejournal.com profile] knightofravens (who usually hates bagpipes on principle) hooked too. I should've figured you'd enjoy them too.
