How the mighty have fallen.
Aug. 16th, 2008 07:35 amYesterday I did something I'd been looking forward to all week.
I made a payday trip to WALMART.
They didn't have electric kettles, the uncivilized bastards (how am I to make my tea?????) but I walked away with a teeny but powerful hair dryer, some hair gel that I've been told won't make it feel like my hair is rubber bands, some more hair ties, and DVDs. I picked up old favourites "The Boondock Saints" and "The Devil's Advocate" along with "The Last Legion" because it looked interesting.
But yeah. WalMart.
I got to Mass for the Feast of the Assumption, which is unusual for me. SGT L mentioned to me in formation that vigil Mass was at 1900 on Thursday. He was planning on powerwalking (he's missing an ankle though not a foot) to Mass as PT. By 1700 the knee I hurt in BCT was irking me and I was thinking twice about going, but in line at the chow hall my conscience appeared in the form of SPC S., who is a traditionalist Catholic chaplain assistant. So S and I headed off for Mass in a taxi and met SGT L. there. The homily was rambling and it was clear that the priest didn't know what he was talking about; S pointed out later that at his age, he was likely in seminary between 1965 and 1975 when Mariology was absent. It was still good to go.
Today SGT L, SPC S and I are hiking to the bookstores. I wish I could call
desert_vixen and re-confirm where the used one is, but she's on her way to the Sandbox. :(
