South Carolina State Museum
Aug. 23rd, 2008 07:38 pmI endorse it. I went out with two fellows who are graduating this week, one of whom was just dying to see the museum. It's housed in an old warehouse and so while it's not huge, it has some nice things. It contains the Confederate Relic Room, which has lots of donations of uniforms, swords, firearms, etc. (
americanstd, Google the LeMat, the double-barrelled pistol I mentioned.) There's science and history, astronaut space suits and models of mastodons, dioramas of slave quarters and uniforms galore. We had a great time.
Four day weekend coming up and I'm dreading it. We still don't know if we're getting three or four day passes and if I get a four day pass I can't spontaneously go up to Virginia to see the folks because we have to have a bus/train/flight confirmation number on the pass application. But how can we make a travel reservation if we don't know if we can get the pass? Your guess is as good as mine and it's another thing for me to resent and dislike about Charlie TSB. However at this point I'm under 28 days so the end is in sight.
